I'm a native of Arizona. I've always loved to tell stories ever since I was a child. I am an unrepentant geek and love Sci-Fi, fantasy, and horror. Now that I've gotten older, I've also developed a taste for drama and mystery.
I first started writing stories since I was 12 years old. I've only been published in small, local publications. I hope to reach the New York Times Bestseller List.
I also love to write poetry, and to me, writing helps me to keep my sanity.
First off, I HATE outlining with a passion. Why? Well, its due to the way my brain is wired I guess. If I outline the story, I feel that I have told the story already and there is no need to do anything more.
Instead of writing from beginning to end, which, to me, is a sure way to get writer's block, I write scenes from the novel and then see which way the story is going to go.
Above all else, I always try to write the story that I would like to read.
LOOK FOR ME
Look for me where the roses bloom
And warm winds make the wind bells sing
There take my hand, and touch my face,
And fly my heart on love's white wing.
I'll give you joy and dance with you
And show the love within my eye.
There we can stroll through velvet blooms
Until a time we say goodbye.
Though we may turn and draw away
Wide land and sea keep us apart,
Know that my thoughts do go with you
And that you do always have my heart.
Come back to me then, if you go,
To where we caught and held our light
There walk with me, and lay with me,
Where roses bloom by day and night.

Q:
Where do you get your ideas?
A:
By paying attention to the world around me. Sometimes inspiration can be found in a song lyric, or a piece of conversation, or even a news story. Sometimes my own life can be a background for the characters I create.
Q:
Who are some of your favorite authors?
A:
In no particular order: J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Tad Williams, Roger Zelazny, Jack L. Chalker, Stephen King (well, older works anyway)., Suzanne Collins.
Q:
Do you like to read classic literature?
A:
Not really. I've found that a lot of classics are not as timeless as people like to think them and they've been given a sort of holy patina. Look at Moby Dick for example. If one takes out the section on whaling ships and cetology, the book is shorter. Sherlock Holmes? He's an idealized figure, but he was also an opium addict and very racist. I love Tolkien, but skip past all of the parts where people start quoting poetry or singing.
I do still love Agatha Christie, however, and Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.
Q:
Are there any works that you consider to be overrated?
A:
Far too many. Not a fan of the Twilight Series or 50 Shades of Gray. His Dark Materials is an interesting concept but the delivery is very dry. Not a fan of preachy books either.
Q:
Would you ever like to see your works turned into movies?
A:
That depends on how it is translated. Hollywood has a regrettable tendency to turn great books into mediocre or bad movies.
